Pedigree

Monday evening 4 May at 21.09 pm an elephant was born in ARTIS. It's a man. The birth went very well. The calf came into the world in just one minute and minutes later it was on four legs. After a few hours, the calf of the first breast milk drank called colostrum. The two daughters of the elephant cow were present at birth and were very interested in the calf. They stayed around all the time and immediately walked around their new brother after birth. This is the fifth calf for this mother, also Matriarch of the Herd of Asian elephants in ARTIS.
