Schulz was born on December 10, 1910 in Krampe, a small village near the town of Grünberg in Silesia (today Zielona Góra, in Poland). His father, Wilhelm, was a weaver; his mother, Maria (née Weinart) had died when Fritz was six years old. Christoph Schulz was his uncle, an animal collector and dealer, who worked as agent for Firma Hagenbeck. Christoph Schulzs only son, Walter Christoph Schulz. Christoph grandson Jurgen C. Schulz has been active animal dealer in U.S.A. Inspired by his relatives, Schulz made his debut on circus in 1929, when Fritz Schulz visited the giant Circus Sarrasani in Nuremberg, Germany. In 1946, he married Sonya Poll, and after living in New York until 1947, when they were forced to leave the country, Fritz and Sonya went to Australia where they found work at the Wirth Circus and other circuses like Ashtons Circus.
