† Zambi (Jambi) is a dead Female ♀ African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana), , who died 2009-03-09 at Mysore Zoo, in India, . Official death reason described as infection from injury; arthritis, after falling in dry moat.
Zambi (Jambi) was born wild 1965.
Brought from West Germany in 1976, Jambi gave birth to a male calf in 1994. In 2003, she was attacked by the calf's sire Timbo and fell into the exhibit's dry Moat. Taking an injury to the Lumbar region, she later developed arthritis, both contributing to her death.
