Welcome to the Elephant encyclopedia and database www.elephant.se, owned and managed by elephant consultant Dan Koehl. (ORCID Wikipedia article Blog) Created in 1995, with over 25 years online, this is the oldest website about elephants, where old sections like Elephant Anatomy (with 36 pages), a section within the The Elephant Glossary (with 236 terms) and Frequently asked questions about elephants (FAQ) from 1995 have been revised, and will be further developed before end of 2021. The latest add-on, is a section with 2175 elephant persons, and the Website elephant.se will soon become a more mobile friendly CSS layout.

The Elephant Database is the largest online elephant database in the world and also possibly the largest database of animal individual animal records. Updated almost daily it presently presents 8886 captive living elephants , and 3682 location facilities from 125 countries in 6 continent regions, as a neutral unbiased documentation.
